Hello! My name is Katherine.
I’m a car accident lawyer in Texas.
So, you’re looking for a lawyer and found me here. You’re probably wondering, “How do I choose the right lawyer for me?” That’s a very good question.
One way to know if a lawyer is right for you is whether you feel comfortable with that lawyer. You will be working with that person during a very difficult time of your life, so you’d want someone whom you can talk to when you are in pain and stressed out. You’d also want someone whom you can listen to because you trust that person’s legal advice.
My clients have chosen me as the right lawyer for them because of these things. I hope that by sharing a brief background of myself here, you will feel the same way. So, here’s my story.
Where I came from and how I became a lawyer:
I was born in the Philippines and moved to the United States when I was 16 years old. I was a junior in high school then. At that time, my classmates were studying for SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) which is a type of exam required to apply for college. I didn’t know what SAT meant then, but I knew I wanted to go to college. I came from a very humble background, and I wanted to make something of myself through my education. Even though I only had two months to study before needing to take the SAT, I studied hard, and it paid off.
I was able to apply for college after taking the SAT and was accepted at UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles). There, I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and graduated cum laude and with College Honors. I was a first-generation college-bound student, which meant I was the first in my family to go to college.
I worked for 3 years after college, and then I attended law school at Southwestern University School of Law. Law school generally takes 3 years to complete. I finished law school in only 2 years at Southwestern by attending its prestigious, accelerated Juris Doctorate program (the SCALE Program). There, I graduated magna cum laude, published a Law Review article, and was a judicial extern for the late Honorable Arthur L. Alarcon of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal (a highly prestigious honor). I was the first in my family to become a lawyer.
My legal career:
I am licensed to practice law in both Texas and California. I am fluent in Tagalog and English.
I’ve been practicing law for over 15 years. During the first 12 years of my legal career, I worked for law firms as a defense attorney, which means I was hired by insurance companies to represent their insureds or companies who were being sued.
In 2018, I decided to open my law firm to become a plaintiff’s attorney, which means I now represent people who were injured.
Because I know how both the defense side and plaintiff side work, I’m able to use that knowledge and expertise to help my clients get the best results.
